Before You Request

The basics owners usually want to know before contacting a carer.

Do I pay when I request a booking?
No. A care request lets the carer check availability and ask sensible questions first. You only pay securely through WagCrew after the carer accepts and you are ready to reserve the stay.
Can I message a carer before paying?
Yes. Keep messages on WagCrew so the booking details, care notes, and any important questions stay together. This also helps WagCrew support you if anything needs checking.
Do I need to complete the full Dog Care Handbook before booking?
You only need the key care details to request a stay. Feeding, health, behaviour, toilet, sleep, walking routine, and anything urgent are the most important. You can add more detail later to make the stay smoother.

Finding the Right Carer

How WagCrew helps you compare carers with more confidence.

How does the Best Fit Score work?
WagCrew compares your dog's Care Handbook with approved carers' profiles, home setup, experience, availability, and distance. The score is there to help you shortlist carers, not to replace your own judgement.
What does the AI Matching Engine look at?
It uses care details such as size, routine, behaviour, anxiety, medication, age, other dogs, children, garden setup, and the carer's profile answers where available. The goal is emotionally intelligent matching, not simple filtering.
Is the Best Fit Score a guarantee?
No. It is guidance. WagCrew shows clear reasons why a carer may suit your dog and anything worth confirming before booking, so you can ask better questions and make a calmer decision.
What if I have more than one dog?
WagCrew can compare each dog's handbook against a carer. The overall match should reflect the household, while still showing dog-by-dog fit where that detail is useful.

Meet the Carer

Simple ways to check the fit before the main stay.

Should I meet the carer before the stay?
Yes, especially for a first stay, a longer booking, or a dog with extra needs. A Meet & Greet helps you see the home, introduce your dog, and agree routines before the stay starts.
What is the difference between a Meet & Greet and a paid trial stay?
A Meet & Greet is usually free when you stay with your dog and no care is provided. If your dog is left with the carer for a daytime or overnight trial, that should be booked and paid through WagCrew.
What should I ask during a Meet & Greet?
Ask about resident dogs, children, garden security, sleeping arrangements, walking routine, feeding, medication, separation anxiety, and what happens if your dog feels unsettled.

Trust and Safety

What to check before you feel comfortable going ahead.

How are carers checked?
Carers build a profile, add home and experience details, and complete WagCrew verification steps where required. Owners should also review profile details, trust badges, reviews, messages, and Meet & Greet impressions before booking.
What if my dog is nervous, senior, young, or needs medication?
Add this clearly to the Dog Care Handbook. WagCrew uses those details to improve matching and highlight carers whose profiles suggest relevant experience. Always confirm important needs directly with the carer.
What if a carer cannot accept my booking?
That is normal and better to know early. You can compare other carers, use Best Fit Scores to shortlist again, and request another stay without having paid for the declined request.
